Hundreds of Local People Queue to Meet Employers
At the new Brent Civic Centre, the greenest public building in the United Kingdom, hundreds of local people queued to meet employers at the Jobs Fair organised by Brent Active Citizens. Eager jobseekers were queuing to meet employers such as ASDA, CSP and Delaware North Companies from the 10am start and within an hour almost three hundred people had entered.

This year national Volunteers' Week 2014 has an extra reason to celebrate- its 30th anniversary! Brent Active citizens (BAC) participated in the festivities with a roadshow to raise awareness on the benefits and opportunities of volunteering and to register as many volunteers as possible. BAC attended various locations throughout the borough of Brent providing information to local residents.

Brent Active Citizens attended the Opening Ceremony of the South Kilburn Summer Festival on Friday 25th July 2014 from 1:00pm – 7:00pm at Carlton Vale Open Space.

Film about Local Issues

Brent Focus is a new filmmaking project where volunteers with little or no experienc, are trained in filmmaking in order to make a film about local issues. Run by Brent Active Citizens and funded through Brent Council’s Ward Working Scheme, the project will focus on the Brent Wards of Brondesbury Park, Mapesbury and Tokyngton.

Young volunteers engage in Youth Panel Meeting
Young volunteers are key contributors who offer valuable skills to projects and organisations, whilst developing personal skills and experience. Youth Panel Meetings held fortnightly at Brent Active Citizens provide young volunteers a platform to practice leadership, organisation and communication skills.

Make a Difference Day (MaDD), held annually in October, is a national initiative started by Community Service Volunteers (CSV) to provide people across the country with the opportunity to try out volunteering. Brent Active Citizens along with the rest of the HFVC Group gathered at Salusbury World to do some much-needed redecoration.
